In this lesson we teach how to beef up your tone using suspended chords and adding low bass notes. Many more lessons at www.learntoplayguitarforbeginners.com.
Suspended chords are neither major or a minor chord because there is no third in it. All major and minor chords have thirds in them, but suspended chords do not have these, allowing them to be played well with minor and major chords. For example, C suspended 2nd chord (0, 3, 5, 5, 3, 3) can be moved up a whole step or two frets to make D suspended 2nd chord (0, 5, 7, 7, 5, 5). This can then go up again to make E suspended 2nd chord. Lastly, add gain to the guitar to make it sound distorted but not so much as to lose the sound of the chord. Then lower notes may be added to the chord to create an inversion for a lower sound.
